VIRGOPAY
A consumer on/off ramp, and the brand that came out of it

VirgoPAY was the first product I built at Virgo: a consumer on/off ramp, fiat into stablecoins and back out. There was no prior design work, no design system, and no other designer. The brand was made here — it later became the basis for two more products, but at the time it was a brand for one product with one user doing one thing.

The product it had to dress was narrow by design. One person, one account, one transaction at a time — no dashboard, no roles, no reconciliation. That narrowness is why the system was simple enough to hand to the next product, and also why it strained when I did.

The ramp was the hard surface. On-ramp is gated by banking rails and verification; off-ramp by settlement on the other side. The fiat leg had to be built market by market, so requirements arrived one at a time as the PM confirmed them, each adding conditions the original flow was never shaped to hold.

The same widget appears on the marketing site and inside the product, and it is not the same widget. On the site it is a hook: spend, receive, one button. In the product it has to carry payment method, processing time, total fees and a risk attestation before the button turns on. A quoted rate is also only true for a moment — the rate was never the hard part, the honest expiry was.
